Andalu Review

Some of us thought we'd like a little more non-BBQ food, so we left to hunt for dessert and ended up at Andalu in the Mission. Besides tea and dessert wine, we only had one dessert here: a "molten" chocolate cake with banana ice cream and partially-caramelized banana. I really enjoyed this, though the compatriot I shared it with wasn't as enthused. The cake, similar to a souffle, was moist and heavenly and really did melt in one's mouth. The ice cream, soft and rich, also melted when it touched the cake and entered one's mouth. As for the banana, the half a banana (sliced vertically) was fried on one side in a mixture that produced a hard (raspberry-flavored?) caramelized crispy coating. This caramelized banana was neat and novel but didn't particularly excite our taste buds.
