La Pastaia Review
Last night a small group headed toward La Pastaia in San Jose. It turned out to be quite a good trip. The restaurant was located in a nicer area of San Jose than I thought existed in San Jose - there was a large glass building across the street and nearby a well-groomed grassy area with palm trees. We started off our meal with some focaccia bread + olive oil and a thin bacon+red-onions+garlic pizza. Quite good, although one person commented that only the northeast US knows how to make pizzas right, with the right about of tomato sauce. As for more primary dishes, what we tried included a tomato basil soup, a lobster-based risotto, and fettuccine with salmon (or, fettuccine with chicken, as I ordered) in a creamy white-wine based sauce, all quite good. We all agreed it was a successful excursion. The desserts are supposed to be great, but we were too stuffed to eat them .. next time we head to San Jose, perhaps we should go back and try them! :) But this trip just goes to prove that not all restaurants located in hotels are bad.; indeed somme are outstanding.
Original Announcement
This Sunday let's head to "La Pastaia", an Italian restaurant in San Jose. It's rated as one of the top restaurant in the South Bay in bayinsider and has an assortment of other good reviews elsewhere; here's a sample:

And judging by all the reviews, we should probably save room for dessert; it's supposed to be scrum-diddly-umptious. :)
For reference, entrees run $12-25 or so, though most (75%) are in the 12-15 dollar range.
